Joy Comes in the Morning

Joy Comes in the Morning

I like music. I can’t begin to tell you how much I do.

I like listening to the Gaither Homecomings. I like the Gaither Vocal Band, and a host of the homecoming friends too. Recently, I was watching one of the Homecoming videos (Alaskan Homecoming, 2011) and there’s this particular point where Bill and Gloria Gaither, and Mark Lowry (Buddy Greene too) sat around a table to talk about a song.

Gloria told of how the song was inspired and how it has really blessed them all. You can watch Joy Gardner perform the song along with the Homecoming friends. I’ve sung this song over and over that I can sing it by heart now.

Here’s the lyrics and the video.

Joy Comes in the Morning

Verse 1

If you’ve knelt beside the rubble of an aching broken heart
When the things you gave your life to fell apart
You’re not the first to be acquainted with sorrow, grief or pain
But the master promised sunshine after rain

Chorus
Hold on my child joy comes in the morning
Weeping only last for the night
Hold on my child Joy comes in the morning
The darkest hour means dawn is just in sight

Verse 2
To invest your seeds of trust in God in mountains you can’t move
You have risked your life on things you cannot prove
But to give the things you cannot keep for what you cannot lose
Now, that’s the way to find the joy God has for you

Chorus
Hold on my child joy comes in the morning
Weeping only last for the night
Hold on my child Joy comes in the morning
The darkest hour means dawn is just in sight

***

I hope you found this song as a source of encouragement and reassurance that God still has you in mind. And remember, It’s always darkest before the dawn.
